Shimadzu offers a Gas chromatography instrument where the sample solution is injected into the instrument enters a gas stream which transports the sample into a separation column. The various components are separated inside the column. The detector measures the quantity of the components that exit the column. Then a standard sample with known concentration is injected into the instrument to measure a sample with an unknown concentration.

Shimadzu's gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) systems combine gas chromatography (GC) and mass spectrometry (MS) to identify unknown substances and contaminants with ultra-high sensitivity and efficiency. Shimadzu offers a comprehensive GC-MS product lineup for all applications, including triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS and single quadrupole GC-MS.

MALDI-Based (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight) Mass Spectrometry is an analytical technique that measures the mass of molecules from a sample that has been embedded in a matrix by using a laser to ablate and desorb the molecules with minimal fragmentation. Shimadzu offers a vast portfolio of MALDI products, from the MALDImini-1 digital ion trap mass spectrometer and the MALDI-8020/30 benchtop linear MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer, to the AXIMA series MALDI-TOF and MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometers.
